HMRC has been told that if the private sector is to have a good chance of adopting IR35 reform by April 2020, it is going to have to meet strict new deadlines.

An Early Day Motion (EDM) was tabled earlier this week, calling for the British Government to review plans for the Private Sector IR35 Off-Payroll reform proposed for April 2020. This is yet more evidence of the strong opposition to these potentially ill-conceived reforms.

On the 29th October the 2018 UK budget was announced by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Philip Hammond. As anticipated, IR35 off-payroll rules introduced into the public sector in April 2017 will be extended into the private sector in April 2020.
