New initiative to reduce risk of student loan over repayment

The Student Loans Company has launched a new initiative to reduce the risk of overpayment in the last 23 months of the loan period. The new scheme, which was introduced on 14th December 2009, allows PAYE student loan borrowers to opt into a direct debit arrangement.
The SLC will be contacting borrowers before they reach this point to offer and arrange the direct debit option. If you are in this position, and reaching this point in your loan term and have not yet been contacted you can contact the SLC direct and arrange to repay the balance of your loan in this way.
